Quarter note triplet notation question....
Posted by knappyroots - 01 May 04:02PM
Hello all.

I'm in 4/4 and I'd like to create a group of 4 quarter notes with the grouping number 4 overtop. Sibelius keeps telling me it's too long. I don't understand. It wants me to do 4 eights grouped with 4:3 instead but I don't believe that is correct.

3 quarter notes grouped together = 2 beats
4 quarter notes grouped together = 3 beats

Any suggestions?

Using the short-cut Ctrl-4 or the menu "Quadruplet" produces a 4:6 tuplet, whereas what you want is a 4:3 tuplet.
