Multirest placement on single line staves
Posted by Kyle Smith - 24 Apr 03:53PM
I have score that I've set up where I moved my multirests down so they are partially in the staff to save some vertical space. This works perfect for normal 5-line staves, but on my percussion parts that use a single stave, the multirest number is obscured behind the horizontal H bar. They seem to be viewed by Sibelius as the same object, so I cannot select the number itself and "move to front" to fix it. It seems that the multirest placement setting is global, so I cannot change it for just the single staves.

Additionally, it looks like the multirest placement also affects the repeat bars (i.e. the "%" repeats) - specifically the 2 and 4 measure repeats since they have numbers above them.

Any way around either of these without resorting to manually creating/placing a new text style for every single multirest?

Thanks.

So it looks like even though the numbers show obscured on screen, when printing, the numbers appear on top and erase the background, so it appears to be a "screen" issue.

The repeat measures are still an issue, however - when printing, the numbers also erase the background, so you cannot see the repeat bar symbol underneath.

The best I can do is to edit the multirest number text style vertical position to 1mm from bottom margin. This setting is global. See attached.

Coming back to this - it looks like the "Multirest (numbers)" text is used for both the multirest numbers AND the repeat bar symbols, so changing placement of one affects placement of both.

Is there a way to force one of the above to use a new text style?? I tried looking through all of the lines and symbols, but did not find a place where the repeat bars number text style was set.

I got rid of the number on a two-bar repeat symbol a long time ago, but can't remember how. I know, it took a lot of searching.
