I've created a new text style for a composite time signature. However, the notes start too close to the time signature and push it from where is should be (see screenshot). Can I add space after the text before the notes start?

Use 8/16 as the 'real' time-signature and hide it. The two digits of '16' will reserve enough space for your fake time-signature.

But then you still have a gap before the notes in the hidden 3/8 measure.
Try this as an alternative (see attached):
Make the real time sig 4+3/8, click on Beam&RestGroups and select 4,3. Then split each measure before the 5th 8th. My example shows dashed barlines, but you can select "normal" if you prefer.

PS. Warning. It's best to leave splitting the measures until you've finished writing, otherwise Sib reverts to grouping to its default 3,2,2. But it is easily rectified in Appearance/ResetBeamGroups.

Or do it my way, but don't hide the 3/8, delete it. Then the gap closes up.
