Hello list,

this is an old problem, but I didn't find any mention of it in the chat page so far.

If a lyric syllable ends in a dot, question mark, or other non-letters, the preceding hyphen will move to the left, instead of being centered.

You can see (and try yourself) the situation in the attached picture. The original text is the top staff, below in red are variations where the last syllable has been added a character in the end. Spacing was reset afterwards, making the hyphens have the current position.

This behaviour is already there for several years, and it is "stable" in the way that it always behave this way.

Does anyone know a workaround?

That seems rather a case of one syllable inputted without and with melisma line (which was deleted afterwards).
The issue I mentioned doesn't affect the position of the syllables, only the hyphens.

It is the exact same input method and it shows the difference whether there’s something like a comma involved or not …
