Sib. 8.x: Does Sibelius have a flexible metronome?
Posted by cezjah - 16 Jan 07:25PM
Hello All,

I notice that when I add a metronome mark for use with flexi-time recording, regardless of what type a note I use (1/16th, 1/4th etc.), I still only get 4 ticks to the bar. I was wondering whether it was possible to have the metronome beat for the smallest note of your composition. So if my smallest note is 1/16th, then the metronome would beat 16 times in one bar.

I thought that was what a click track would do, but I could not find a helpful tutorial on how to use either the Sibelius plugin, or one I bought from https://themusictranscriber.com/product/click-track/

I ended up adding a drum track to simulate a metronome as per the image below.

Thanks in advance, and please have a fantastic MLK day if you are in the USA!

The metronome beats according to the time signature of the score. The time signature in your screen-shot is 4/4, so the metronome beats 4 times in one bar.

Thank you for your reply. Do you have any idea how to get the metronome to beat for each 1/16 note without changing the time signature from 4/4? Is a drum track the only option?

Actually, I changed the time signature to 16/16 and that worked :-) Thank you so much!

You could also hide the 16/16 time sig and plant a 4/4 sig in R-klik/Text/SpecialText/TimeSig.

Is it just me or does "flexible metronome" conjure up melting clocks and other surrealistic imagery?

Never mind. It's just me.
