NotePerformer Kick Drum

Remind me how we stop the Kick Drum in the NP drumsets reverting to that big booming orchestral bass drum sound? Can't seem to get an edit in an of the drumset instruments to stick.

Ta.

I think the only way you can achieve this, Laurence, is from the mixer. Orchestral percussion gives the booming sound. Any of the other sounds (sticks, rock, electronic or brushes) are more muffled. I don't know why this is not achievable in the instrument definition.

Whatever Drum Set 'instrument' I choose in the Mixer (or choose in Add Instruments) I can't seem to change the Bass Drum to a Kick Drum. It keeps reverting to Bass Drum (Concert).

I can change it to any OTHER sound in the list. No problem having it play as a snare drum or a tambourine! But a change to Kick Drum just won't stick!

I've just upgraded to 2021.9, Laurence. Why did I even bother? Yes, you're correct. Whichever drum kit you choose, even brush kit, the kick drum reverts to cathedral like booming bass concert drum, even when you select 'dry' from Performance/Reverb. I used to have a problem getting brush swirl to work. Arne told me I had to select brush kit from the mixer, Fortunately, that still works. Unfortunately, it's not working for kick drum. I think we need to report this to Arne.

PS. Hah! just after I posted, I went back to the mixer and tried switching drum sets again. This time I played the score rather than just poking the notes and now it seems to be working, even tho' the instrument definition is still showing concert bass drum.

I got this back. I expect they're right, though I haven't tested it out yet.

Hi Laurence! :)

Please use the "Drum set (Alternative)" staff, that will automatically map to the correct drum map, using the other drum sets will use an orchestral percussion map. Alternatively, you could achieve the similar result by changing the drum map in the Mixer, e.g. "Drum set (Rock)" as shown in my attached screenshot. Once you have selected a drum map the text (unall) will appear in the mixer, you just have to start playback and it will map itself to the correct drum map you have selected.

Best regards
