Cresc/Dim playback
Posted by Julian C - 09 May 10:18PM
I am running Sibelius Ultimate 2021.2 and am finding that with the Sibelius Sounds configuration that Sibelius does not playback hairpins over several bars at all.

I can successfully getplay back of cresc and dim hairpins by using the cresc/dim plug-in but I cannot see how to select the midi cc information to delete all the controllers for a single implementation of the plug-in.
I seem to have only two options; either delete all cc information using the filter or delete controller data one at a time which is time consuming.
Is therte a way of selecting a bank of controller data in order to delete only the data applying to a specific hairpin?

Hairpins will work for sustained notes in playback configuration "Sibelius 7 Sounds", but you do need to use the Inspector to configure the hairpin so that Sibelius knows what it is meant to do.

You can delete MIDI information by passage-selecting, then filtering for Technique Text, then press Delete.

When I select a passage with Mouse click plus shift command and then select 'technique text' in the filter the passage becomes deselected(no longer highlighted in blue) and delete does nothing.
Is there a different command for 'passage select'?

Hah! This sounds similar to the problem I have in advanced filtering jazz articulations under Symbols/Techniques. I can go thru' the motions but on selecting, everything in the selected passage becomes deselected, including the filtered symbol.

If you use the advanced filter to select technique text, rather than the vanilla one on the filter button does that work? Is the text actually in technique text style?

As to the hairpins, if you either do as Robin suggests or insert a hidden dynamic mark between <> or >< and turn off live playback and set interpretation to meccanico you will get a better effect from hairpins. Rather like gliss lines, they need a start and an end point. They won't work very well if you don't give them enough info to work on.

You can also change the amount by which they change in the inspector.

Sorry, the plug-in uses Expression Text, not Technique Text.

So make a passage-selection, filter for Expression Text, and press Delete.

If you want to be even more particular, use Advanced Filter to filter for Expression Text containing the character '~'.
