unwanted color
Posted by Salieri - 24 Nov 02:13AM
I hit a key or key combination accidentally, and all of a sudden I was looking at yellow "paper" on the screen. I looked in the manual index under "color," but nothing seems to explain how this happened or how I can get my plain white screen back. Another file is open, and that has the white "paper," so it's something specific to this file. Can anyone help? Thanks.

It sounds like you have moved to a Part, which are coloured yellow. Type w to return to the Score.

Thanks so much, Mark. That restored the white. It also undid a revision of the systems that left some ugly layouts. I don't know why moving to a "part" would have done that, but it did.

The "revision of the systems" simply means that you had the Part's own presentation formatting of the music up beforehand.

You do understand the difference between the Score and Part?

Nothing was 'undone' with the system formatting inside the one presentation.

The colour was not 'restored' within the one presentation.

The Part's yellow colour and system formatting is still there and available! You have just navigated away from it back to the score by typing w. Typing w again would take you back there.

It certainly sounds like you don't understand the distinction between Score and Part presentations and the fact that you are able to toggle between them. This is all you have done. Parts usually need their own formatting.

You can use

File > Preferences > Textures

to change the background color of the on-screen "paper."

The default is the "white cotton paper," at least in Sibelius 7.

You can pick any texture or plain color you want!

Hope this helps.
