Problems updating to 2020.9
Posted by Chris Wimlett - 19 Sep 10:19AM (edited 19 Sep 10:21AM)
I've been unable to update from 2020.6 to 2020.9 on both desktop and laptop. On the desktop I get an invalid URL error in Avid Link, see below. On the laptop the update downloads but the Windows Installer freezes. Can anyone help please?

- shut down Windows, and restart Windows;
- wait a couple of minutes for things to settle down;
- do not launch Sibelius;
- in the "Show hidden icons" area of the Windows taskbar, click on the "Avid Link" icon to show Avid Link;
- in Avid Link, click tab "Profile", and sign in if necessary;
- in Avid Link, click tab "Products";
- in tab Products, if a message "Synchronizing Account" appears at the top of the panel, wait for that message to go away;
- now you should be able to update Sibelius.

If you are not able to download the Sibelius installer via Avid Link, you can download it over the web from your "My Avid" account at http://my.avid.com/products

For Windows Installer problems, the first thing to try is to shut down Windows, and restart Windows, then try the installation. This is to make sure that files that need to be updated are not in use by other applications.

Try downloading directly from your Avid Account. (If you don't know where this is, just Google for 'Avid Account'.)

Thanks both, rebooting Windows did the trick and I was able to update from Avid Link after logging in again.

One odd thing, when I looked my Avid Account, it showed the Sibelius Ultimate subscription was on hold - see screenshot. I tried entering my system ID but thus was rejected as invalid. Sibelius seems to be working OK so I didn't want to experiment too much, but do you know what could be causing this?

"On hold" indicates that you have purchased this new Sibelius Ultimate licence as an upgrade or cross-grade from some previous licence. The new licence will not be valid until you have entered the SystemID of your OLD Sibelius licence (the one from which you upgraded or cross-graded).
