Reverb FX (instrument specific?)
Posted by monsterjazzlicks - 01 Jul 01:44PM
Hi folks,

I have recently started using the Playback feature within Sib. I have a question regarding the Mixer, if I may:

Is it possible to have on (say) a big-band chart the Bass & Drums 'dry', whilst the Brass, Saxes and Piano are all 'wet'? I am just using the default/pre-configured 'reverb' FX at present - hence this FX is applied to ALL instruments.

I have looked at some You Tube tutorials and the setting-up appears quite complex in the sense that it seems like you have to configure two FX channels (and 'route' [ie. 'send'] appropriately). I'm not sure why this is so because I would have thought there would be a 'mute' ('bypass') FX option on each instrument in the Mixer channel-strip?

I hope I have explained my question OK.

Many thanks in advance for any kind assistance offered here.

Best,

I was going to hint "C.C.", but I was concerned you might think it was Christopher Columbus! ;-)

Charley Cairoli. He could play two soprano saxes in his mouth at the same time.

So can Cherie Blair. Or something similar. Allegedly.

LP. - Perhaps she can form a band with her husband on guitar and David Blunket on drums (if you can cast your mind back to that excruciating moment!).

Boris, as always, fakes it.

Love the left hand ABOVE the capo fret!

Just another example of cluelessness.

CC. - Oh wow, full marks for observation! I never noticed this comical error.

LP. - I don't know if you watch the Sky News 'Press Preview' each evening?, as I do. Obviously, due to Covid, the journalists are being interviewed via Skype from their own homes. But you would be quite surprised at how many male correspondents have one (or even two!) guitars hanging-up on their living-room walls; and, week to week, these instruments never seem to ever have been moved!

Hi,

Is it possible to kill the reverb on the (metronome) 'click', might anyone know, please?

Cheers.

I believe the instrument used for metronome klik is editable, Paul, but I have no idea how you do this. The option in the mixer appears to be blanked out.

Hi Adrian,

I just checked again and it looks like you are correct in your observation. Perhaps the only workaround would be to deploy a percussion instrument to play on all 4 beats of the bar, and bypass the FX send? However, my score is already 19 staves and cramming another instrument on is likely to prove difficult for my eyesight.

Cheers,

Paul
