How do I stop beams disappearing when using a 'No instrument (hidden) stave' after a 5-line stave?

Why do beams disappear from quavers on a 5-line stave when followed by a 'No instrument(hidden)' stave? I can't even add a beam from 'Lines' because the stems have been shortened and I can't grab them, so the flat gets in the way.

Please attach an actual Sibelius .sib score file which demonstrates this issue, rather than a picture of it.

That's weird. Are you sure the beam isn't merely hidden?

Thanks for your replies. It looks like it's to do with the rests or the bar-line, but I can't work out how to override it. It's definitely not hidden. I've attached a Sib. score with an example of what's happening.

Yes I confirm this is happening on your posted score. But I can't recreate the problem on a new score.
Something else is strange on your score, when selecting a passage, (blue box or purple) the highlighting showing its selected is weirdly thin...

Thank you so much! This led me to double check on my 'No instrument (hidden)' stave change and it works fine now that I have selected it afresh from the menu instead of merely copying from elsewhere in my score. Perhaps I did something to it previously and can't remember, or it may have been infected with something... Anyway: thanks for your time and effort. Much appreciated! All sorted now.

With respect to the comments in the score, you can easily "hide" rests in places you do not want to see them.
