I am a newbie suffering from information overload. I just finished entering a piano accompaniment and want to export it as an mp3. Under playback configuration it only give MIDI as an option and says I can't use that for exporting because it doesn't contain any virtual instruments. I can't find how to fix that in the "manual" or in any of these discussions. Help, please!

You cannot export audio with a MIDI player configured.

You need to download and install the Sibelius Sounds sample library, then you will be able to choose playback configuration "Sibelius 7 Sounds", and run audio export from that.

Alternatively use a third party program such as Audacity (free!) to record your music as Sibelius plays it.

I was wondering if I could record it using Garage Band on my iPad. Audacity seems to have too many bells and whistles for me to figure out quickly.

I just upgraded everything and I have downloaded Sibelius Sounds. But I still only see MIDI as my only option in playback configuration. How do I load up Sibelius Sounds?

What you downloaded is an installer. Have you run it?

I did find how to run the installer. I did that (spent all evening watching it do its thing), but no changes happened to the configuration or my choices on the export page. This shouldn't be so hard.

Have you restarted Sibelius? Just to be safe, have you re-started your computer?

Laurence, you are the smartest person I know (tonight). That worked! You have saved my plans to prepare for a virtual recital (in case we can't do one in person). And to everyone else, you all helped direct me to the right steps along the way. Thank you all!
