Export audio very soft
Posted by DanielT - 23 Mar 01:34AM
I'm using Sibelius 2019.4.1 and the latest version of NotePerformer for playback. When I export the playback as an audio file. The resultant audio file is significantly softer than the playback in Sibelius. The audio file is less than half the volume of the playback in Sibelius. Anyone know why this is happening, and what I can do to about this.

Check the volume setting on the media player that opens when you play the exported audio file. It will have its own volume setting.

With the volume on the media player at max volume, the volume is still less than half of the volume of the Sibelius/NotePerformer playback.

The audio device used may be different for Sibelius playback and general playback and thus have different volume settings. You may need to raise the overall volume for playback on the computer's audio device itself, not just the media player.

Thanks Mark,

Actually, this did fix the problem by going to manage audio devices within windows and raising the volume there. With moving that to 100%, it now matches my Sibelius playback. My media player and Sibelius should both be using the same device (my audio interface), but somehow adjusting the level through audio devices in windows only affects the level of the media player and not the Sibelius playback. I guess I just don't totally understand everything that's going on in my computer, but it is fixed so thank you!!

Manage Audio Devices within Windows should have been at 100% as it now is.

You can check, but is sounds to me like your Sibelius playback uses a different device to your media player (e.g. ASIO?). In Sibelius, go to Play>Playback Devices and click the "Audio Engine Options" button to see.

Glad it is fixed.
