I've discovered my Ivory is not in my vst instruments. I came across this when I went to add ivory to my active devices and it crashed sibelius each time with a "let Avid know" message. It never did this with my Sib 7.5.
I downloaded some VSL player update, and the Garritan CFX piano update, and then set my audio settings to re-scan the vst plug in files that are stored in my Cubase 5. It scanned everything, but Ivory was no longer there.
Not sure what to do now, as it worked fine in 7.5 and I was suing the 64 bit version of 7.5 as far as I remember.

What version number of Sibelius are you now using?
On macOS or on Windows?
Is your version of the Ivory VST 32-bit or 64-bit?
(If on Windows) In your new version of Sibelius, have you configured the "Folders" list of "Audio Engine Options" to include the folder containing the Ivory VST?

thank you for your reply. I am using Sibelius Ultimate - subscription.
My Ivory vst name is 'Ivory VST.dll. It doesn't say it is 32 or 64, but it has always been 64 bit as far as I remember. However, I've checked the vst folders, and re added the vst dll file from Ivory and doing a re-scan of the plug in folders and see if that solves the problem.
I've reopened Sibelius which was set up to do the rescan of all vst plugins in my cubase folder, and I now have the same result, no ivory seen as a plug in.
I'm just going to open a file in sib 7.5 and see if it still shows up in there.
thanks and I'll get back to you Robin.
I've attached a screen shot of my vst folders that Sibelius Ultimate Scans. I contacted Synthogy, and they sent me an update link, and asked me to restart my computer. I then set up the vst folders to be rescanned, and I did so, but Ivory does not appear still.
However, in Sib 7.5, Ivory was still in the available devices. I was able to use it for playback as a vst instrument. I'll attach a screen shot of the vst folders in Sib 7.5 [ sorry - I don't know how to attach more than one picture to these thread boxes]
The screen shot of 7.5 vst folders and also you can see on the left hand side that Ivory is available as a playback device and I checked that it does work as a playback instrument, and it works fine. What I can do for the moment is export the score as a 7.5 version and use Ivory playback from there if I need to for the time being.
Possibly, the VST "Ivory" has been black-listed by Sibelius Ultimate. That can happen if a VST causes a crash when called from Sibelius. The black-list prevents the VST bringing down Sibelius again.
To reset the black-lists, do this:
- ensure Sibelius Ultimate is fully quit;
- click Start -> Avid -> "Sibelius User Data";
- in the folder that opens, delete the folder "PlogueEngine" and all its contents.
- now launch Sibelius Ultimate again.

ok, have had to delete the plogue engine folder 5 times as everytime I restart Sib Ultimate, it crashes, then I get a message to send material to Avid which I do, and then when I restart it doesn't crash. When I do restart it, what happens is that it starts going through the plug in's to register them again, even though I haven't set it to re-scan the vst folders.
The 5th time I opened it after deleting the file, it started scanning vst folder again, and then did not crash straight away, but I gotthe send message to Avid box, which I did send, and then instead of crashing it froze for a little while scanning the 5th vst item, then crashed again. I restarted it again without deleting the plogue engine. I hope all that info is helpful. I've attached screen shots of various things I've encountered while doing this, which you may find helpful.
thanks,
ok, latest - I've just had the latest Windows 10 update installed, and I went and deleted the plogue engine folder again. This time it looked promising, started Sib Ultimate, and it actually didn't crash straightaway, - It started scanning the vst plug ins, Ivory was no. 5, and it froze for a few seconds, [all of the other start ups, you didn't see what crashed sib, it just crashed with no warning], but this time, as I said, I could see the name of the Ivory plug in being scanned, and then it crashed. I'll try again.
From your description, it sounds as if the Ivory VST is bug-ridden and unusable. Since you have applied an Ivory update to the main Ivory installation, and since you have separated the Ivory VST from the main Ivory installation by putting it in a different folder, make sure that the Ivory VST you have put in your Cubase folder is actually from the latest updated version of Ivory, and not an old version.

yes,Robin, that is a bit of a worry as I remember checking the properties of the vst file and it did not show a recent date, but an older date. I'll write to Synthogy about this and let them know.
thank you for your support Robin. Much appreciated,
