I'm creating a standard Piano/Guitar/Vocal (Piano staves, vocal staff, and guitar symbols/diagrams) sheet music book for an artist. For one song, she uses a tuning of DADDAD, and wants the chord symbols to reflect that.

Based on advice in other threads, I created a new instrument, which I called "Acoustic Guitar, DADDAD tuning [tab]," and I did the "Edit Staff Type" to adjust the tablature staff to those notes. Theoretically, after restarting the program and re-opening the score, I should be able to then either create another new instrument that references the tuning of this custom instrument, or even just set the chord diagrams to reference that instrument in the expanded Chord Symbols menu. Unfortunately, no matter how many times I've tried, the DADDAD Acoustic Guitar that I've created never shows up in the list of instruments to reference. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing here? I'd really appreciate it.

Any custom instrument you create exists only in the score in which it was created.

If you wish to take custom elements created in one score, and utilise them in other scores, then you need to "Export Manuscript Paper" from the original score, and then use that Manuscript Paper as the source for your later scores.

Another way of transferring custom elements from one score to others is via a House Style export and import.
