Problems with Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and Sibelius 2019.4.1

Hi all:

Since installing Sibelius 2019.4.1, Sibelius audio no longer works with my USB audio interface, the Scarlett 2i2 from Focusrite (this is on an iMac pro running Mojave). Previous Sib versions worked great, and all my other audio applications continue to work well. But with this latest version of Sibelius, all I get is flashing LEDs and audio pops, then silence - regardless which audio setup I've selected (General Midi, Sibelius Sounds, NotePerformer, etc.).

Any advice? Anyone else experiencing this?

(I borrowed a friend's 2i2 to test if the problem was with my unit alone, and the behaviour in Sibelius is the same.)

Please provide further diagnostic information as follows:

1. Please attach screen-shots of the following Sibelius dialogue windows:
a. Playback Devices;
b. Audio Engine Options.

2.
- ensure Sibelius is fully Quit, and not running in the background;
- in the macOS Finder, hold down the Option key while pulling down the "Go" menu, and select "Library";
- in the User Library that opens, open sub-folder "Application Support";
- in "Application Support", open sub-folder "Avid";
- in "Avid", open sub-folder "Sibelius";
- in "Sibelius", open sub-folder "PlogueEngine";
- from "PlogueEngine", open the file "PlogueEngine_x64.log" into application "TextEdit";
- in TextEdit, Select All (Command-a), and Copy (Command-c);
- in your next post in this thread, Paste (Command-v) the entire log.

This will be a very long post: we need to see all of it.

How old are your 2i2's I have had problems with drivers under windows with my 1st gen 6i6. I contacted Focusrite and they very quickly provided me with a driver that works.

Thanks for the extra info.

I will refer this issue to Avid, as a fix for error -9986 is probably beyond the scope of this forum.

In the meantime, could you provide some further information:

- is the Scarlett 2i2 a "1st Gen" or a "2nd Gen" model?

- is the Scarlett connected directly to a Mac USB socket, or is it connected via a USB hub of some sort?

Thanks for your help.

I'm not certain if this is "1st" or "2nd" Gen. I've attached an image of the label on the underside of the unit for reference - it's dated 03/2014.

Currently it's attached directly to the iMac Pro via USB; it appears to behave the same way whether cabled directly or via a USA hub.

I have problems with Sibelius and my Scarlett 2i4. I have the latest Sibelius and Catalina on my iMac, when I start Sibelius it does not recognise the interface; I have to close it down, unplug and plug the interface, start Sibelius again and go toSetup/audio interface and select the 2i4. This is a nuisance, and the Scarlett works fine with my other programs. Any advice would be welcome!

Please attach a screen shot of "Audio MIDI Setup" -> "Audio Devices" -> displaying the page for the 2i4 Output.

Screenshot attached. I have now found a workaround by connecting the Focusrite via an extension, which I unplug and plug before starting Sib. Seems to work so far!
