Sibelius is emphasising the meter in tracks: emphasising the first and third beats, with the first more emphasised than the third, and the second and fourth de-emphasised.

The problem I have is that I don't want it to: "emphasise meter" is set to "none" on both pitched and unpitched instruments, and playback/rubato are both "meccanico". Also, "use Espressivo 2" is unchecked. It's not in live playback mode or live tempo mode.

I have confirmed that this happens in an export to MIDI that I looked at with Cakewalk Sonar.

8th notes get REALLY de-emphasised.

Probably you have some text in the score which is affecting playback. As always, if you want answers to playback problems, attach the Sibelius .sib score file in question, so that we can figure it out.

Ah, OK. Found it. I had no idea that text such as "Steady Rock Beat" actually has an effect over and above the stuff happening in "Performance".

It's always worth checking out the dictionary under Play to see if you have any of those words (particularly - but not necessarily always) in a system text.

Shouldn't "Rock" emphasise the 2nd & 4th beats? I don't see any emphasis setting in the playback dictionary.
