I sent a score created in Sib 6.2 to a composer for proofreading. He made changes but I could not open it as he uses a newer version. He resent it to me as exported as version 6. Now I get an error message saying that I need to upgrade to version 6. That's the version I have!

I've always kept it updated (not that there have been any updates to 6.2 for years.

Any ideas why it won't open or how I can get it to open?

I've asked the proof reader what version he uses.
I use a PC. I don't know if he uses MAC. Would this make a difference?

Doubtless a muddle over exporting the right version. It's easy to do.

I think your error message was more like 'This score was made in a later version of Sibelius 6...' I agree, this is misleading. What it means is '...in a later version of Sibelius'.

If you like, attach the sib file here. Someone will return it in Sibelius 6.2 format within a few minutes.

That Worked! Thank you. Not sure why the strange error message as it's easy to export to another version. If I get him to export as 5 instead of 6 would it work for sure?

Is there a way to upgrade but not commit to a subscription? I bought 6 with the educators discount and don't use it enough to pay a monthly fee.

You got this error message (attached) because it was a Sibelius 8 file. Like I said, the mention of a newer version of Sibelius *6* is misleading.

Your collegue made a mistake. That's all. Choosing Sibelius 5 won't help.
