When I try to export mp3 files from the Windows version of Sibelius, I'm unable to do so, apparently because there are no virtual instruments available. Is it necessary to install some sort of separate virtual instruments package beyond the regular Sibelius install to get mp3 export to work? If so, where does one find it?

Can you record from Sib with Audacity?

You need to install the Sibelius 7 Sounds sample library. You can download the installer (all 23GB of it) from your "My Avid" account.
