Hi All,

Sibelius 2018.7 is now available! Here is a list of improvements:

Notation

Notes are no longer automatically respaced in some cases when deleting some notes and/or accidentals

Double and repeat barlines on the final bar of a staff no longer cause the bar number on the subsequent line to be mis-placed

Superfluous cautionary accidentals no longer appear in some cases with gliss lines

Accidentals are now correctly displayed when shared between two notes that have an attached gliss line

Various tweaks to improve the appearance and behaviour of grace notes

When changing the voice of grace notes from one to another, extra rests are no longer added

Centered bar numbers are now correctly aligned when key signature changes and certain types of barline are present

Stability

Sibelius no longer unexpectedly quits when:

Opening a score with the Quick Start dialog disabled

Attempting to change the position of a stem using arrow keys

Opening certain files created in older versions of Sibelius

Running the "Add Rehearsal Mark Plus Double Barline" ManuScript plug-in when final bar is selected with System selection

Entering certain lyrics in Japanese and Korean on Mac

Using the "Get score" function to retrieve a score from across a network license server

In addition, Sibelius is now much faster in making edits to text in certain circumstances.

General

Enharmonic change by Return key now operates as expected even when there is text within the selection

Sibelius now provides extra space for accidentals, as required, when moving a note up or down in semi-tones (1/2 steps) using the keyboard

When exporting to previous versions, overlapping voices no longer appear overlain

When saving a newly imported MusicXML file for the first time, Sibelius now correctly suggests a .sib file suffix

Page dimensions are now more accurate when exporting to PDF in certain circumstances

In Application Manager, the entry for Sibelius contains the text

Sibelius 2018.7 is here, including various note spacing, stability
and workflow improvements. Visit Sibelius Forum to find out more

Installed the new update. Created a new score. It won't print. Shut down Sibelius. Rebooted the computer. Still won't print. Doesn't appear to be even sending a document to my printer. Tried printing an older score. It also won't print. Doesn't send anything to the printer. This is not a feature. What can I do?

Kitty - this was a problem under Windows 10 at one point recently.

If you're running W10 check you have installed the update released on July 24th that fixed the issue - KB4340917.

Hi! The volume of edit notes needs to be sorted out, when writing soft parts, clicking the note still plays it at full volume. Very unsatisfactory

Robin, it would be great if it was following the dynamics in the score. this is a huge improvement for me though!!

Having the same problem since 2018.5; printer starts but then stops again without printing anything.

Run Windows Update to install the updates issued on July 24th. Then try Sibelius printing again.

Hi,
installed this version and got a new layout issue.
Bar 5, left hand first four notes are not looking right. When flipping it works...

Reset Position works even better. How did the group of notes get that way?

Any particular reason you flipped RH bar 6? This seems better...

Laurence, actually I don't remember how those notes game this way, but funny enough later I copied those notes and they game just like they supposed to come. What I remember I had some notes with the 2nd voice too and chanced 1 to 2 and vice versa and in the end deleted the hole 2nd voice. So there was some kind of procedure which left notes this way.

These things happen as we construct a score. That's why Sibelius offers us Reset Position, Reset Design and Reset Note Spacing commands. Nothing can be considered a bug until it's survived those!

Hi.
I've tried to update from 2018.5 to 2018.7 through Avid Application Manager on Mac OS X, it says "Installing..." but no sign of any progress even after 30 mins... it seems I can't halt the installation OR launch Sibelius Ultimate 2018.5.
Anyone else had this problem? Think I have no other option other than to uninstall completely and reinstall.
(I'm using Application Manager 2018.4.3 as 2018.8, whilst showing as an available upgrade, won't install through Application Manager)

Hi - the solution to this wasn't obvious! There were two users logged in on the Mac, and the installer launched on the other user's account - not mine. I didn't see it until I logged out of Mac OS and the other user logged in, who was also an administrator.

Please could you fix that bug where timeshifting a track with a playback dictionary item only shifts the notes, and not the articulations, so if you move the track ahead, each note plays with the articulation of the one before. I sent proof into Sam. I've been pointing this out for over a year now.

1. Ensure that your installation of "Avid Application Manager" has been updated to its latest possible version;

I just downloaded the latest Sibelius Ultimate version and now the dynamics in my score do not change position when you go to the parts version. If you move the dynamics to the correct spot in the part then it messes up the score version. What is wrong? I was working on this same score an hour before and everything was fine. I took a break, installed the new update, restarted my computer, and now I have this problem. Please advise.

I suggest you start a new thread for this issue, with a meaningful title, and attach the sib file in question so we can see what's going on.

Oh, and restart your computer. That's always a good idea.
