Have any of you guys who use the East West libraries updated the Play engine to the latest version (6.0.4)?
If so, have you experienced any issues?
Don't want to take a chance just yet!

It's been several years since I last used Play in Sibelius but I have no issues using Play in my DAW (Reaper). Play is VST3 these days and Sibelius still only recognizes VST2, so you might want to make sure there's also a VST2 dll version installed before upgrading (and take note of exactly where everything is installed; I keep a running spreadsheet).

I'm using Play 5.0.6 at the moment, with no apparent issues.
I did have to reload instruments to run some old scores, but so far so good.
Obviously, I want to feel safe before upgrading Play to 6.0.4.

I just checked my own setup. I have Play 6.0.4 installed, in the default location specified by EW which is here (for windows):

C:\Program Files\VSTplugins

I have a lot of plugins installed in that same folder, and Sibelius scanned all of them with no hiccups. I can also activate the Play interface.

So 6.0.4 works fine, at least on PC. I'm on Windows 7, 64 bit professional. The installation path is obviously different for mac.

If you have any troubles, then you can just go back to version 5 of Play. It's still downloadable from the soundsonline web page.

By the way, be aware that the upgrade to Play 6 is not free, it's about $30, unless you purchased other recent EW VSTs such as Hollywood Choirs or Voices of the Empire (included in purchase price).

If you do not have those, and you're considering whether it is worthwhile upgrading, I would say "yes it is", because for $30 you have a much better GUI with the ability to search by instrument. That alone will save you a lot of time if you are looking for something specific.
