Can't print from Sibelius Ultimate

I tried printing my latest score from the latest version of Sibelius Ultimate, but nothing happens. The printer icon loads but nothing prints and if I hover my mouse over the icon, it says that there are no documents to print.

I closed and re-opened Sibelius.
I restarted my computer.
I tried printing to a pdf and that won't work either.
I tried printing a test document from Word and that printed immediately.

I also made a similar post but I don't see it in the list of threads. Maybe I didn't hit send. Or Maybe it just takes a little while to show up. So, sorry if this gets posted twice.

This is a well-known problem with Windows 10 version 1803, not Sibelius.

Specifically: if (a) the document contains OpenType fonts with CFF outlines, and (b) the printer driver is a Windows "Type 4" printer driver, then the document will fail to print, in Windows 10 version 1803.

All Sibelius-supplied fonts are of the OpenType variety that contain CFF outlines. Therefore, no Sibelius document will print if the printer driver is "Type 4", which I'm guessing yours is.

Not all OpenType fonts have CFF outlines: some have TrueType outlines: they will print OK. TrueType fonts will also print OK.

There is no work-around for this, unless you can find a "Type 3" printer driver for your physical printer. (It so happens that my printer was supplied with both Type 3 and Type 4 printer drivers. If I select Type 3, Sibelius prints OK. If I select the Type 4 version, then Sibelius fails to print).

Otherwise, you have to wait for Microsoft to fix this problem in version 1803 of Windows 10, or roll back to the previous version of Windows 10 if you are still within the permitted roll-back period.

The next Windows update is due on Tuesday June 12th.

Thanks. My printer is a HP Office Jet Pro 8625. I never heard of the type 3 or type 4 printer classification. I'll have to check into that. I think this is the first time I tried to print since upgrading to 1803.

Well, I opened the print management snap in and it says that my printer drive is a type 3. The latest driver is from 2015.

Not being able to print kind of takes away most of the reason I use Sibelius.

I just found out that I could export from Sibelius to a pdf and then I can print that. So at least there is a work around.

I also have Notion and I tried printing from that and it prints directly. Perhaps it doesn't use the OpenType fonts with CFF outlines.

The Windows Update on June Patch Tuesday (12th) did NOT fix this problem with printing documents containing OpenType fonts with CFF outlines. We seem to have to wait longer.

Kevin, please let us know the version number of the printer driver in use for that printer (usually available on one of the Printer Properties tabs).

Could you also show us a screen-shot of the information stating the driver to be "Type 3".

Are you up and printing correctly Kevinh?
I have similar problems.
My Sibelius Ultimate won't print to pdf or my HP Officejet Pro6830.
It was printing when first purchased/installed June 2018.

I need work printed so any help would be appreciated.

19.4.10 Sibelius Ultimate has stopped printing to my HP OfficeJet. All other programs print fine; any print job from Ultimate appears in the queue as "Printing" and then changes to "Deleting-Printing" and disappears. Help!

I found on a separate thread that this is an issue with Windows 10 version 1803 and has been fixed by Windows Update KB4340917 released on 2018 July 24. Oddly enough, my computer had only just installed version 1803; after restarting, I queried Windows Update again, and it quickly installed the update. Restarted again and now it is printing again.
