The plugin has been updated to pick up more line types when filling its list box of available lines. I has a set of 5 built-in lines it always uses, plus it looks for any staff lines that are currently used (not just defined) in the current score.
Previously, the plugin checked on a subset of line types to speed up the find process, but it appears in my testing that the dialog comes up quite quickly even on quite large scores if I look through all the objects in the score. (Please let me know if you find it to be sluggish).
If you want to use a line that is not in the list, add one somewhere in your score temporarily. Run the plugin and it should appear in the list. Once the plugin has added one or more of those lines, you can delete the temporary line.
Where possible use Vertical lines, or lines derived from vertical lines, as fake barlines, because it is very hard to move non-vertical lines horizontally.
This plugin can be very useful in different situations. Look in Help for some examples.
It was designed as a way to fake barlines where they had been hidden, and that is what the default settings are good for.
If you want to add "reminder" barlines in the middle of a bar, you can use the "Add Line n Quarter Notes from the START of the bar" option. When it is done you will not that the plugin did not allocate space for the lines, but the notes that immediately follow the added lines will be selected. Try setting a X offset of about -1.5 before adding the lines, then use shift+alt+right-arrow to make space so the line is balanced between notes. (I find 12 - 14 pressed of the keys work pretty well).
There is an option to add double barlines with a gap you can control.
Lines at the start of a bar are hard for the plugin to position due to things like clefs, key signatures or time signatures.
If you want a double barline at the start of a system, you can get pretty close with this plugin, but you will likely need drag the line(s) into position. You will really want to use Vertical lines for this. If there is already a barline, add a single line, otherwise add a double line. An X offset of -5 is a good start, but the positioning at the start of a bar is affected by the presence of clefs, key and time signatures, and notes, so expect to need to do manual adjustments. (See screenshot 2).
