Same note on 2 bass clef staffs play octave
Posted by Kenneth Winiecki - 13 May 01:08AM
Actually ver. 2018.1. I imported this score from PhotoScore. In the original, the chorus parts (T1, T2, B1, B2) are on 2 staves with Tenor 1 and 2 on staff 1, and Bass 1 and 2 on staff 2. In order to isolate the T1 and B1 notes (for practice), I created a separate staff for each of those parts, copied each original staff to the "associated" staff, deleted the second note in the T1 and B1 staves, and deleted the first note in the T2 and B2 staves. The first many bars look the same (B1 and B2 diverge at measure 25), but they sound an octave apart, and I can't determine how to get them to look and sound the same. Please see attached file. What am I missing? How to make them sound the same?

Hi there

Make an instrument change for the whole of the Bass I stave, choosing 'Bass' from the list in Singers. All the notes will move down the octave. You'll have to re-edit the label to Bass I. Then select the entire Bass I part and raise it an octave (via cmd-[up arrow] or ctrl-[up-arrow]).

While you're at it, I'd add a new Piano instrument and copy all the music from your two Piano staves on to the resulting grand staff.

Hope that helps
Jeremy

Hint: when importing scores into Sibelius, NEVER select "Let Sibelius choose instruments". Always choose the instruments yourself.

I select "Choose instruments", select Piano, and press Cancel (not OK). Sibelius sets all staves to Piano, which Is what I want. But it is wierd that after pressing Cancel, Sibelius doesn't go back to the "Open PhotoScore or AudioScore File" screen where it lets you select the "instrument" options. I suspect that's a bug in Sibelius.
