Note input from midi keyboard

I've had to buy a new computer and now have sib ultimate installed. When playing a series of chords into the score, sib is writing too many notes. Seems like notes from the previous chord are being repeated along with the next chord. Is there a setting somewhere that rectifies this? I've never seen it happen before.

Hi Adrian: you don't have the sustain pedal pressed down by any chance?

No, Peter, the sustain is not on. I've unplugged it and still getting wrong input. I was getting an echo, tho' I've fixed that by switching off midi thru., but I still have the same input problem. I've attached a screen capture to show what is happening in my score, and readout of input devices.

On the Input Devices page you showed us, there is a setting that suggests a solution if you 'encounter problems' with MIDI input. You seem to be encountering problems. Have you tried it?

Yes, Laurence, I've tried switching all options off in turn and all options off together. I still have the same problem. Also, the test button is dead visually and audibly. I've tried it with NP, Yamaha and General midi. Same problem on all.

Input is fine with single notes.
Input of dyads adds 1 note from the previous chord to new chord.
Input of triads adds 2 notes from the previous chord to new chord.
Likewise for quadrads.
Input of pentads adds 3 notes from the previous chord to new chord.

Did you try toggling the 'Low latency input' option and then re-starting Sibelius?

What keyboard is it?

Done that, Laurence, and the answer is still no improvement. My midi instrument is a Rolandep 7ii, which I have been using since sib4 or before w'out any problems.

I'm happy to say that I've narrowed the problem down to the usb midi interface. I've bought a replacement and everything's now back to normal. Life was much less stressful working with pencil and paper, and I always met my deadlines.

Magnificent Adrian. I hope Sibelius see your comment.

I'm afraid Adrian's computers KNOW he dislikes them.

It's just that computers wrongly assume that I speak their language. In the old days, Laurence, the only technology I needed to deal with was a battery powered pencil sharpener and eraser. This left more room in my grey matter to plan my next chart. Tony knows what I mean.

You bet Sibelius (AND MS etc) will know lots of our likes AND DISLIKES.
Have NASA`s computer updates ever been criticised? Have the Bank of England`s ever been also? How many of the NHS `puters have directly caused a patient shutdown? (i.e. death). I`ll bet not even the White House `puters can function without holding someone`s hand.
Thank God the Russian computers seem to be pretty stable.

I`ve got 6,7 and 8 working quite stablely. If I was offered the latest Sib update, it would need to be free, and installed remotely, with Sibelius` compliments, and with one months` comlimentary observation.

Well, Tony, I now have sib 2018.4, build 1696, born on 2018/4/4, installed on a brand new computer and have already noticed that it is still severely sluggish when the inspector is open. My old 1969 3B pencil moved faster.
