One of the most important plugins I use no longer works (see screenshot).
It is called Transpose Copies Special and would transpose entire lines into as many a 12 keys and take into account double bars (and special bars) and pick-up bars.
It also took into account key sib pref and was built by Jan Kok and I was the tester.
I'll have to download my older version of Sib to finish a book and 3 supplements.
I suspect I can keep 2 instances of Sib at the same time (Ultimate and Sib 8 on the same computer).
I cannot check this because I stay at version 7.1.3, but if you omit the zero will the main (Sibelius) clipboard work again?
So Copy() and Paste() instead of Copy(0) and Paste(0).
I did already try that, but in version 7.1.3 this did not work because the selection that was copied was different from the selection to paste in and then the tempory clipboard is empty.
Perhaps if I had used PasteToPosition without leaving the copied selection this would have worked.
Ok. This would seem to explain why the 'Impose Sketch Onto Template' plug-in is not currently working on my system (which is what I'm here looking for answers to). Hoping they get this fixed soon - that plug-in saves a lot of time & faff.
It is a small development and testing team, much smaller than in the good old days when Daniel et al were doing this. The problem only affects plugins, and most of the plugins that exhibit the issue are not shipping plugins, so they would not be tested (though Retrograde shows the problem, and it is a shipping plugin).
I have no idea how much testing is done with plugins. I suspect it would be hard to automate, and there are 150 or so shipping plugins, and they themselves did not change, so I am guessing there was not a lot of plugin testing.
There are also over 400 downloadable plugins. Once I (and I am just a user, not an Avid employee) became aware of the problem and determined that there was likely a problem with plugins that copied to the system clipboard, I found about 20 plugins that seemed to have the problem, and I reported it to the Sib guys, who quickly confirmed the problem.
It is unfortunate that this happened, when there are so many good things in this release. Things like this are easy to miss, because you have no reason to look for this sort of problem.
I personally looked for plugins that would be affected by the fact that when you delete the first bar in a score the system text is retained, figuring that things like Split Bar would duplicate the text because it was moving it on its own (and it does have this problem, which the Sib guys are now aware of).
I am not happy either, but I am grateful that useful features and refinements are being added to Sibelius. 2018.4 is, in general, a really fine update.
I am fairly pleased with this release, Bob. It is a big improvement in a lot of areas and some of them are really useful. However, I use some of the now broken plugins so I feel a little irked. Surely, testing what users are likely to do should be part of teh testing regime? I know this is Avid, but even so.
