Plug-ins: Tidy Score - doesn't seem to work
Posted by PhilShaw - 10 Apr 05:57AM

Tidy Score is described as equivalent to the following:

Layout > Reset Space Above
Layout > Reset Space Below
Appearance > Reset > Position
Appearance > Reset Note Spacing
Layout > Optimize

Attached is a score that has bad spacing between staves on
pages 27 and 29. When I run "Tidy Score", this bad spacing is unaffected. But, when I perform "Layout>Reset Space Above" and "Layout>Reset Space Below",
the bad spacing is corrected. I.e. "Tidy Score" doesn't seem to be doing the Resets.

In the next post below I'll attach a score in which "Tidy Score" doesn't seem to be doing "Appearance>Reset Position".

(In these examples I'm performing "Tidy Score" on individual scores. My aim and prayer, however, is to be able to use "Run Plug-in on Folder" to apply "Tidy Scores" to a folder and save myself a lot of time and effort.)

Attached is a score in which the Title and the Heading(after 1st page) are above the top margin line. When I run "Tidy Score" this is unaffected. But when I perform "Appearance>Reset>Position" the positioning is corrected. I.e. "Tidy Score" doesn't appear to be doing an "Appearance>Reset Layout".

Are you running 2018.4? It looks like some plugins are not working that worked as recently as 2018.1. Could you please try my Tidy after Conversion Plugin and see if it has the same problem? I am able to look at that one so I could have a better chance of seeing what is going on.

I suspected there would be problems with the plugins that moved system data in 2018.4 but did not look at all the plugins ( not that it ismy job to do that, but I try to keep up).

Bob,

I'm using 2018.1

Tidy After Conversion works (at least it doesn't have the problems
I noted above), and it works with Run Plug-In on Folder,
so it does the job for me.

What should I check/uncheck in Tidy After Conversion to make it
equivalent to Tidy Score? I checked
Unlock format
Reset clef positions
Reset staff spacing
Reset Object positions
reset Object Design
Optimize Staff Spacing

And I unchecked:
Remove forced accidentals
Fix inconsistent initial key signature

Will this be the same as "Tidy Score"?

Thanks,

Phil Shaw

I don't actually know exactly what Tidy Score does, so all I can suggest is that you choose what you want the plugin to do.

It appears to me that all plugins that copy to the main clipboard (with clipboard id = 0) are failing to copy in 2018.4. They work in 7.5 and 2018.1.

I will let you know if I find out anything more. Lots of plugins use that clipboard and they likely will all fail.

I'm using 2018.1. Both "Tidy Score" and "Tidy Score after conversion" are described as being equivalent to

Layout > Reset Space Above
Layout > Reset Space Below
Appearance > Reset > Position
Appearance > Reset Note Spacing

But, when I run either of the "Tidys", then do the above actions,
I get significant re-formatting. I.e. neither of the Tidys seem to be equivalent to the above resets.

It would be really nice to have a "Tidy" that really does the above resets. Otherwise, after you use the plug-in "Import house style to folder" you have to open each score and do the 4 resets manually.

I did not write Tidy, but in Tidy Score After Conversion, if you tell it to reset staff spacing and reset position only, it will also reset note spacing, and should do exactly what you want.
