8.6.1 has started to refuse to play from a selected note or from a Rehersal Mark.
It will only play from the beginning.

Perhaps the score that you are trying to play has a broken repeat structure?

For me it plays from the playback line or from the start of a selection if I use Play from Selection..

Can you post a score that does what you are seeing?

My first thought was the same as Robin's - broken repeat structure..
