Sib. 7.5: How Do I Define "C3"?
Posted by GTBannah - 30 Dec 03:18PM
Hello!

When I play a note on the MIDI keyboard, Sibelius notates it an octave higher.

Is there a setting that I can define "C3"? I don't know what terms to look for, either in the help menu or on the forum.

Thanx!

In Sibelius, what instrument is being written for?

And not all MIDI keyboards agree on what note C3 is. The note we accept as Middle C can be classed as C3, C4 or even C5, depending on make and model. What are you using for input?

Sibelius considers Middle C to be C4, and that cannot be changed.

ARIA player seems to think Middle C is C5.

Sad!

I'm working with the FP 30 by Roland.

Sibelius seems to be on firm ground here. Scientific Pitch notation (aka American Standard Pitch Notation and International Pitch Notation) define Middle C as C4.

So, I guess Roland is out to sea, being Japanese. ;)

Middle C = C4 works fine for me.
