Hi,
When I try to launch Sibelius I get the above message in a box with the text: C:\Prog Files\Avid\Sibelius7\QtScript4.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error... Error status Oxc0000020
Be very grateful for any help with this as I need to get Sibelius running!
Many thanks
David Richards
McAfee has been known to cause problems with Sibelius. It has been suggested elsewhere to permanently get rid of it (possibly that's what Ingrid means) and substitute another anti-virus program, for example Avast, which I use without problems.

Thanks Ingrid & Chris...
I've completely uninstalled Mcafee, restarted computer and tried to launch Sibelius.
Same error message, unfortunately.
Kind regards

Hi,
Alright... try to re-install Sibelius (do not re-install McAfee as it does prevent Sibelius from launching, Chris is right. Actually it also happens to other software as well, not just Sibelius).

Well, we know it was designed to run on Windows but it could have gotten corrupted, I guess. If Sibelius was running in the past, and if you have a backup from back then, and if you use backup software that allows access to files on the recovery medium you could try copying QtScript4.dll from the backup. Or you could tke the suggestion in the popup and reinstall Sibelius
I no longer have 7.1.3 installed but in both my 7.5 and 8. QtScript4.dll is 1,370 KB so I'm guessing that is a pretty stable module. If yours is considerably different you should consider reinstallation.

Thanks Patrick and Ingrid,
I'll try re-installing Sibelius on my desktop and see what happens. (Will have to be tomorrow as it will no doubt take a considerable time).
I have exactly the same setup on my laptop (ie W 10, Sib 7.1.3, McAfee) and that continues to launch and run without problems. So perhaps that suggests file corruption on the desktop setup?(I need the 2 machines as my wife & I often use them in different locations).
If you're going to try reinstalling Sibelius anyway, why not first try taking the QtScript4.dll off the laptop and copy it into the desktop library. USB memory sticks are good for that sort of thing.

Hi Patrick...
Many thanks: very sound idea but when I look at the Sib files on the laptop Qtscript4.dll is not there (ie not showing between qtnetwork and qtsv).... even so, Sib works fine on this unit.
Qtscript4.dll is indeed present in the Sib files on the desktop. As a matter of interest, I removed the file (first copied it to flash drive) and tried launching Sibelius... got the message attached (not surprisingly perhaps).
So perhaps a full reinstall is what's required, unfortunately?
I have uninstalled McAfee.
Just for interest, I tried to do an "over the top" reinstall of Sibelius: this seemed to proceed smoothly but I still get an error message when I try to launch.
So I guess my next step is to uninstall Sibelius from my desktop with a view to re-installing a clean version. However, I'm concerned about the question of activation. Do I need to deactivate before uninstalling?... the problem being that I can't launch Sibelius so see no way of doing this.
I could of course deactivate the Sibelius copy on my laptop but wonder whether that's a sensible course of action?
Any advice gratefully received.
Kind regards
David
