Is there anyway to stop Application Manager starting when I start my computer? Not sure why Avid thinks this is necessary? Pretty intrusive.

1. to check that the product is correctly licensed;

2. to implement the new score-sharing feature of Sibelius and Sibelius First 8.7+

Sibelius 8.7/7.5.1/7.1.3/6.2/5.2.5, PhotoScore Ult 8.8.2, Dolet 6.6 for Sibelius, Windows 10 64-bit 16GB. Desktop, and Microsoft Surface Book.

It's fine to start when I'm using the app. I just don't like that it starts when I start my computer and there does not appear to be an option to turn this off.

Hi,
May we know your operating system? Thanks.

I appreciate the replies.

I contacted Avid. They sent me instructions. Though this all seemed uneccesary as it could easily have been an option made available in application manager. I don't think it's a good idea to have end users modify plist settings. Obviously Avid does not prefer to give this option. This is all just my opinion I understand.

Oh jeez. Now I notice application manager does not launch with sibelius and is not an application in launch pad. So how do I start the application manager manually? This is crazy. This should not be this difficult.

Fixed the second issue of having application manager show up in launch pad. I just had to make an alias in top level of applications folder.

All this just to make the app start when I want. :)

Here is the link avid sent in email in case someone else comes across this thread with the same concerns...

http://www.pro-tools-expert.com/home-page/2016/1/31/how-to-stop-the-avid-application-manager-from-launching-at-startup-mac-and-windows

Instead of placing the application manager on the dock I just found it in the applications folder, made an alias and placed that in the root of the applications folder so it would show up in launch pad.

One more thing I found. After quitting application manager, the process avidappmanhelper doesn't quit. You have to manually quit this process using activity monitor. Pretty lame.

So what's the problem? Leave it alone.

Because why should application manager be running 24/7 just because I purchased and installed Avid software? That's ridiculous. There is no reason Avid having application manager running 24/7 with no control over it. I don't really use Sibelius that much. If it was set to run when I'm running the application I would have no problem. Looks like I'm not alone in feeling this way.
