(General) Bug: pasting from a copied System selection

This has happened for a long time (at least since Sib 5), but it is a significant problem that most people likely do not notice.

If you have a score with irregular bars, and you System select (purple box) the score and paste it elsewhere, the irregular bars are converted to bars the size of the time signature.

In my testing a pickup bar was not distorted but all other irregular bars were. Rests are added to the right end if the bar was smaller than the time signature. If they were larger, the extra data is either lost or put somewhere else (I only tested this a little so the exact result would need to be evaluated).

I have attached a score in 7.5 format that demonstrates this.

One can avoid this problem, sort of, by adding time signatures to all irregular bars, thus making them regular, before copying. The plugin Time Signatures for Irregular Bars (category Layout) can do this.

The problem with this workaround is that there are extra time signatures you probably don't want, you which you will likely want to remove after the paste.

Time Signatures for Irregular Bars will trace which bars it added time signatures to, so that makes it at least slightly easier to deal with.

The Sib guys have been told about this.

Hello Bob.
The solution is this:
a) Select the bars (or the area) for copy
b) With the CTRL down click on the time signature of the first bar of them (you will see all the time signatures selected)
c) Copy (CTRL+C)
d) Paste (CTRL+V) - before the program executes the "Paste" asks you about the position of the paste - no problem, click OK.

I'm sorry but I don't understand your solution. The problem I see is when you have a system selection that includes irregular bars, which by definition do not include explicit time signatures. Those are the bars that are corrupted if you make a system selection, then copy and paste.

Could you please demonstrate how your solution would work with the score I have attached?

Thanks,
