I'm going through the tutorials, as was recommended. I encountered a number of differences between what the tutorial says will happen and what actually happens in Sibelius, but I've found work-arounds for most of them.

A problem I can't resolve is that the reverb, chorus, and pan controls in the mixer have no effect on playback. I'm following the directions carefully. I can move the controls, but it has no effect on the sound. These functions work fine in other applications like Audacity, Studio One, and Winamp, so I suspect it's not a problem with the computer or sound system.

What am I doing wrong?

There's no mixer automation in Sibelius. It's a great score editor, but a lousy sequencer!

If you are trying to make changes while the music is playing, the reverb etc will not change. You can only adjust these settings which do work - after a fashion - when playback is stopped.

Yes, that was it. Interesting that the tutorial says to hit the space bar to play and then adjust these functions to hear how the sound changes.
