can't see symbols in control-click drop down menu

If I'm writing, say, Roman numeral chord symbols, and I control click to add a slash-circle (half diminished) symbol, when the drop down menu opens I can't see the symbols. It's like the font is too big, but I don't know how to make that menu font smaller so that I can see the symbols.
Anybody?

Sorry, don't follow what you mean. Is this on Windows or on Mac OS? Please attach a screen-shot of what you are seeing when you "can't see the symbols".

It's as though the font is too big for the field boxes.

Hi there

Yes, this has been a problem with the word menu for Roman numerals since at least version 7.5 (though it's okay in version 6). There is nothing that you can do to make the menu display the symbols better.

Everything can be typed without using the menu, though. If you want to learn how to type them, go to Preferences > Word Menus, choose Roman numerals, and click through the list to see, on the right, either the 'Text' or the 'Shortcut', one or the other of which should give the entry you need.

Best of a bad situation, but there it is. Shift-Command-O is your half-diminished symbol; Command-O is the fully-diminished symbol.
