Today, we released a minor update to Sibelius 8.7 and Sibelius | First 8.7 that fixes a rare problem where Sibelius couldn't open Avid Activation Manager when clicking the Activate button. It could, in some even rarer cases prevent a user from saving their work.
We're pleased to say these issues have been resolved in a 8.7.1 update, which is available through your account, here:
Thanks Sam ... I am downloading it now, though I have no issues with Sibelius 8.7.
Quick question: this is a big download, 933 MB compressed, fixing a small issue.
Is there a way to release updates which just fix small issues, and which could be much smaller to download? 933 MB is quite a bit. My internet connection is reasonably fast, but still takes me about an hour.
Dorico has these incremental updates where you don't have to download the entire program, just the update.
For now, we're only providing full installers. One day, we'd like to reintroduce patches, but since we're releasing Sibelius and First, and possibly a License Server too, that's 6 more updaters for us to test on each OS we support.
We're investing in automated testing thought, so this would be an area that could help us.
In addition to this, the App Man team has been working providing options to allow it to auto-download and then silently install. These would be off by default, of course.
We're a little way off having all these but they aren't out of reach.
