Sib. 7.5: Possible File Corruption Situation
Posted by Robert Anello - 15 Aug 03:44AM (edited 15 Aug 04:42AM)
I have a situation in the 2nd Clar. part, the slur in bar 10, beat 3. If I attempt to delete the slur, there is a brief flash of the "loading playback sounds" window and then all sound ceases for that ".sib" file. Other ".sib" files open simultaneously still work fine. If I don't save the file and I reopen it, playback works fine.

I run 7.5.1 on Windows 10 and I have my Sibelius Sounds loaded on a SSD.

MODIFIED POSTING:
Well, this solution does not identify the problem, but I found if I load backup 120 I think I can move forward, making the changes I was working on. If I figure out which change clobbered the file I post the result.

I can't delete a post but I can edit it. Never mind. I'm just going to load backup 120 and make the changes a second time.

Have you tried the following:

Create a new clarinet staff next to the faulty one.
Triple click the staff causing problems and alt click in bar one of the new staff.
Triple click the old staff and delete it.

Alternatively, post the file here or email it to one of us using the link in our names.

In the score in question, is there a Bass Clarinet instrument?

If so, have you applied the "Bass Clarinet Patch" fix for the Sibelius 7 Sounds sample library?
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Troubleshooting/Unable-to-play-back-some-scores-in-Sibelius-problem-with-Bass-Clarinet-patch

The problem fixed by this affected the entire score, not just the Bass Clarinet.

Thank you Mike. If the problem returns, I will keep that procedure in mind.

Robin, I had applied the Bass Clarinet patch in the past but must had forgotten to reapply it when I migrated to the Windows 10 machine and reinstalled Sibelius. The playback is working again. Thanks!
