2 voices rests in the wrong places
Posted by Jeroen Griep - 14 Aug 02:52PM
Help,

I try to wright 2 voices in 1 staff, top voice with stems up, low voice with stems down. Sybelius places the rests of the top voice at the botton and the low rests at the top. WHY???

Ok i swapped the voices, but it shouldn't be necessary.

These are the Sibelius rules:

In passages of multiple voices:
- stem-up notes must be in Voices 1 or 3;
- stem-down notes must be in Voices 2 or 4.

If you break those rules, the notes will not align correctly.

Are you using Voice 1 for the upper part, Voice 2 for the lower? Don't worry about stem direction until Voice 1 is fully entered. When you start adding Voice 2, stems will mostly flip automatically to the way you want.

If you've entered an appreciable amount with the voices the wrong way around, Shift-V will exchange the contents of Voice 1 and Voice 2.
