I'm editing some scores this summer, and some of the files I'm being sent open with this error message. I'm running the most up-to-date version of Sibelius 7.5(.1), and I was told these files were created before Sibelius 8 was even released. Any help at all, short of updating to Sibelius 8 (which at this point I'm extremely reluctant to do)?

It does look indeed as if these files are only openable in Sib8.

If you don't wish to update, you could ask the person sending these files to export them as sib7 files and resend.

I'm afraid the version the score was created in is irrelevant. All that matters is the version it was last SAVED in. I agree, the error message is unhelpful. Steven gave good advice. Or, if you're stuck, attach the Sib file here. Someone will export it to 7.5 format for you, probably very quickly!
