Hi folks,

At the end of the Bar before you take (go back to) the 'SIGN', should this Bar have a double-bar-line, please? Or should it's notation be 'single'?

(see screenshot.)

I have made it a 'double' but I can't make my mind up if it looks a bit weird or not.

Many thanks in advance for any kind assistance offered here.

I've never seen anything but double or final barlines in this case, Paul. A single would be quite wrong as the Coda, which will follow, is a separate section of music (at least to the eye).

Hi Mike,

So you mean you could use a ‘Final’ barline at the point the music jumps back to the 'sign'?

Double. Save the Final for when it IS the end, e.g. at the 'Fine' of a 'DS al Fine'.

Don't argue with Gould, unless you've got a very good reason! See attachment.

I didn't say it was right, but it used to be common to see a final barline (particularly in something like a march) but also in other pieces at a DS/DC al coda

Perhaps it is idiosyncratic to certain genres?
