How would I create this?

I know it looks extremely easy and I have done this hundred of times, but it seems like a wrestling match again the program. From the moment I start with the appoggiaturas and the slurs, every element keeps on jumping around and it's not even possible to get a slur connected properly from the 1st voice appoggiature to the main note. Creating a nice spacing in this bar is impossible as well. This doesn't seem to come naturally to Sibelius. Can anyone tell me what the best way to make this in steps please?

Very tricky, André. When you plant the voice 2 grace note, the voice 2 main note is pushed to the right. So you need to use General Properties (Inspector) to edit the Xpos values for both the main note and grace note.

I tried all kind of things and almost gave up, till I tried the plugin called Narrow Two Voices/Narrow Mode (Voice 2 always to the left). After that, it was a matter of very carefully adjusting the other things. This was surely not an easy task to get right! Thanks, Adrian.

Just a thought, but does it work better if you use voice 4 instead of2?

I tried that, using a different voice for the main notes and the grace notes, but the problem was the same. I have a good system now though that seems to work, using the Narrow voices plugin to get the main note to align correctly.

André, perhaps you had better explain exactly what difficulty you are having. I made this moderately easily, without any plugin, and without adjusting any X-pos.

Robin, do you enter the grace notes first or do you add them afterward by clicking them in front of the main notes? I tried it different ways and now can do it by nudging the first voice grace notes only without using the plugin.

This example I made by going into grace mode first, choosing the value and playing them in. After that, I played the main notes and nudged the 1st voice grace notes with the arrow keys. I think my mistake was that I entered the main notes first and clicked the grace notes in afterward.

The issue you illustrate in the left-hand of the screen-shot is a well-known hazard, the fix for which is:

- passage-select the whole bar;
- do "Reset Position";
- do "Reset Note Spacing".
in that order.

That doesn't do anything, the result when I do that stays as in the left-hand of the above screenshot.
