Hi everyone,
I'm a composer in Paris, France.
I'm in a big trouble as I started to use Sibelius to make scores for strings for a session to happen end of coming week, and from last Thursday afternoon Sibelius wouldn't open at all- can't open the scores I already made, not to mention I can't go further on the remaining scores.
Since I use Sibelius I never encountered such a problem. I'm not a big user, so I'm not a Sibelius pro, and I only sign up by month when I have to use it.
In the past I had no problem, but I must precise there have been a few incidents recently. I'm a Cubase user, just like a Vienna Symphonic Library user. I use VSL in Cubase and it works very well in a Rewire mode. So when I open a session in Cubase using VSL, Vienna Ensemble pops up and both are connected.
Last week, a few times, I forgot to close Cubase before I would open Sibelius, and then VSL wouldn't work in Sibelius, as I think there was a conflict between Cubase and Sibelius. But I usually only had to close both softwares, then reopen Sibelius, and everything would work fine again.
The point is last Thursday, suddenly Sibelius wouldn't recognize my sound card, a Motu 828 hybrid. Usually when the sound card was "on", the audio engine would choose it by default. I went to the pages of the audio engine (in the configuration for the playback) but here it would only propose the internal audio engine (I'm working on a MacBook Pro end of 2013). I have to precise I had used the internal audio engine a few hours before, being not at home, but I did it in the past many times, and usually when I'm back, by default Sibelius goes back to the Motu sound card.
Last Thursday I was home and really wanted to use my sound card to get a louder sound, so I restarted my computer a few times, following this problem of Sibelius ignoring my Motu sound card. And suddenly, Sibelius would open at all. The furthest if goes is the second page (initializing audio playback), then it crashes.
End of last week I was not using the 8.6 version but the previous one. I thought maybe I need to update Sibelius. It didn't change everything. I checked my VSL products, they're all up-to-date and regularly paid, etc.
I don't know if any of you has a hint of the reason Sibelius crashes that way?
One last thing: I uninstalled completely Sibelius with Cleanmymac and reinstalled it completely afterwards, the same problem remains.
Thanks a lot,
