score moving
Posted by Juha Lehmus - 25 Jun 10:59PM
Hi folks,

I am editing a big score and becoming crasy trying to find playback line after stopping playback! I am also becoming crazy when undoing something (cmd+z). Both of those (and others, too) cases the score is moving. Can I do so that after those actions score stays where it is when stopping and undoing? It is waste of time scrolling around... we used to have "go to playback line" but I don't find it anymore???

while editing , I also find a lot of bugs. Where to report them?

Thank you, Juha

Go to Playback Line has keyboard shortcut Shift-Y.

Check your settings in Preferences -> Score Position.

If you are having trouble with the score moving unexpectedly while you are editing: are you using an Apple Magic Mouse? If so, that mouse might be the cause of the problem.

If you think you have a "bug", seek help here first, in case it is not in fact a bug.

Thanks, it is lacking from the list under the "PLAY"

Check your settings in Preferences -> Score Position.
Is the list in the screen shot ok

Yes, I'm using that mouse. Is the one with wire helping? oe what is your proposal?

Is this a bug or feature: changing voice 1 to voice 2, sibelius doesn’t change dynamics, but loses them in triplets (screen shot 1&2)

Thank you very much, Robin

What screen-shot? It's up to you to choose the Preferences you wish to work with.

The problem with the Magic Mouse is that it is sensitive to touch. So, if your fingers touch the mouse while you are moving the mouse pointer across the screen, it will be interpreted as a "drag", and the score will move on the screen.

Either (a) you need to be ultra-careful about where your fingers and thumbs are when using that mouse, or (b) change to a different model of mouse, or (c) use the application "MagicPrefs" from http://magicprefs.com/ to configure the Magic Mouse to behave better.

We cannot help with just pictures. Please attach a score which demonstrates the issue, with instructions on how to reproduce the problem.

Hi, over your answer is the screen-shot named Score Position :)

"We cannot help with just pictures. Please attach a score which demonstrates the issue, with instructions on how to reproduce the problem."

But here I made a sib score for semonstration. Instructions are in the score

I cannot reproduce your problem. When I swap voices, everything changes voice correctly, and nothing goes missing. What procedure are you following to swap the voices?

I use alt+2. I first tought that NotePerformer sounds are the reason, but I had the same result with Sibelius sounds...In the score you see what happens to me when swapping. "Funny"

The way to swap voices is to use ribbon tab Note Input -> Voices -> Swap.

To swap Voices 1 and 2, there is a keyboard shortcut: Shift-V.

Yes, I know that, but it only swaps 1. and 2. voice (1 --> 2 and vice versa. If you need to change v1 to v3, swapping isn't what you are after. Try to select the area with the blue box and really change v1 to v2 with alt+2 or alt+3 (4). Then this mistake (bug) happens. I use swapping when I really have two voices (1. and 2.), very handy. I have used sib from the very start and this is a new issue at least in my score ;)

I have tracked back, and this issue has been the same since at least Sibelius 5, and perhaps earlier.

It affects all staff-attached text, staff-attached symbols, attached to a tuplet note.

It is only a problem if the attached items are selected: if you select only the notes, changing the Voice of the tuplet notes does not lose the attached text or symbols.

Maybe I've never met this issue before. In my score to edit, there is a lot of triplets. Sounds more like a feature than a bug then?

It affects all staff-attached text, staff-attached symbols, attached to a tuplet note.
That is the well known issue? But impossible to fix being since sib 5?

It is only a problem if the attached items are selected: if you select only the notes, changing the Voice of the tuplet notes does not lose the attached text or symbols.
Makes editing painfully slow... but I'll find my way. Tuplets have always been "the difficult ones" I do believe that there are real problems with tuplets, based on the program itself.

But, at the moment I'm in Florence listening my music and back in Finland 3.7. editing score in question again. I'll find the best way to handle these issues around tuplets!

Thank you Robin
