Slides in scores created prior to Sibelius 8.6 whose positions were manually adjusted are likely to be positioned incorrectly in Sibelius 8.6.
Slides are not separate objects, but, like ties, they are properties of a Note object. What were slides in earlier versions are Magnetic Glisses with the slide style “Line” in Sibelius 8.6.
As far as I can tell, if the original slides had not been adjusted, they have the default positions for this style of Magnetic Gliss (with all the Inspector Line pane LX LY RX RY values set to 0), and will generally look fine. If you had adjusted the slides in the original document, they will be moved to different positions in the 8.6 score than they were in the earlier version. As far as I can tell this is a bug, and was not intended behavior.
If you had made the adjustments in the original score to tidy up the slide positions, you can filter the slides, and change their positions to the new default positions for slides, and they mostly will be positioned correctly.
You can use the Advanced Filter to view and find Lines, then choose the plain straight line that is found immediately below the Gliss line. This will select all slides (which are now Magnetic Glisses with style Line), but it will also select any Line objects with that style.
“Line” style lines are used for things like fake barlines, so you want to be sure that you do not adjust the position of these Line objects unintentionally.
Here are 2 ways you can change the positions of the slides without changing other Line objects.
1. Bring up the Inspector and look in the Lines pane. Change the 4 values in “Slide ends” to all be 0 (zero). If any of the values show “--” you will need to change that field to a number using the arrow keys, and then set them to 0. Doing this will reset the slides but not the Line objects.
2. Select All, then run the most recent version of the downloadable plugin Filter with Deselect plugin, and choose “Staff Lines”, and then Deselect. This will leave only slides selected, and you can use Appearance > Reset Positions to change the selected slides.
If you had reason to drag slides to an unusual position, rather than just adjusting them to look better, resetting position to default will not retain those values, and you will need to reposition them all manually.
Note also that since plugins cannot select or filter slides or magnetic glisses, it can be tricky to find them.
The best I can offer is that you can use the downloadable plugin Filter Other to select Notes with Slides, which will select all notes that initiate slides. You can then use either the Go To plugin's Selected Objects option, or use the plugin There It Is!, using the setting to display Notes, to give you a navigable list of the notes that have slides/Magnetic glisses.
