Entering eighth notes on the off beat
Posted by Kevinh - 25 Apr 01:59AM
I want to have an eight rest and then follow it with an eighth note. I used to be able to do this but now Sieblius is making me add both eighth notes and then delete the first. It will only accept a note on the quarter beat. It's like there is a quarter snap turned on. Is there a snap setting and have I turned it on somehow? By pressing a key accidentally or something?

File/preferences/note input/snap position.

Starting from the beginning of a measure, select an 8th rest, then on keypad hit zero (moves input to next 8th rest), enter note (moves input to next 8th rest), then keep repeating zero, note, zero, note.....
This works for me however Snap Positions is set.

OK. Thanks. It occurred to me this morning that maybe I had to enter a rest first. But it's good to know there is a snap setting as well. I was searching the ribbon and not looking at preferences.

Thanks again.
