How do you get different percussion instruments to play back?

In the score attached above, the notes notated in the score do not match the noteheads defined in the Drum Map for the instrument.

In addition, the single-line drum staff has only one drum sound defined in the Drum Map (on the line, not above or below it), but in the score, it is being used as if it had two drum sounds defined.

In addition, there is no "shaker" sound available in "General MIDI (Basic)".

You might need to read the Sibelius Reference on Drum Maps.

I separated the drums into two lines and moved the notes up onto the line and can now hear them. I moved the wood block up to the line and can hear it.

Do you have a suggestion for something like a shaker that we would be able to hear?

I read the reference on drum maps. I find it very confusing.

I have attached a new version.

Actually, there *is* a shaker sound in "General MIDI (Basic)", but it is not available with the notehead Type 5 that you used. You need to use notehead Type 1 (cross) on the line, then it will pick up the MIDI shaker sound.

Are you aware that you could have installed and used the "Sibelius 7 Sounds" sample library, instead of General MIDI synthesised sounds?

In my latest Sib version I go to Play\Setup\Configuration - Mixer Section, then in ' Configuration ' select from the List of Sound Libraries - Sibelius 7 Sounds.

If you have not already installed it, then log in to your Avid account at http://my.avid.com/products and then download "Sibelius Sounds 7.5.1 (Win)". The download is huge, and will take many hours to download. The downloaded file is a .zip archive file which first must be extracted (right-click, select "Extract all"), and then the extracted installer must be run.

I have a choice of cabaca, maracas & shaker which all come under the heading of rattle. But whichever drum kit you have in your score, you will most likely have to add it to your drum map, making sure that the pitch & notehead style are matched between score & drum map.
