Sibelius - the leading music composition and notation software

Is this on Mac OS or on Windows?
What do you mean by "reconnect"? Were they working once before?
Please attach a screen shot of the following Sibelius dialogue windows:
1. Playback Devices;
2. Audio Engine Options.

On a Mac
It worked awhile ago.
I read that you could save disk space on your main drive by moving the
Sibelius Sounds folder to a different drive and then use an alias in its place.
It didn't work and when I tried to move it back didn't have access to the
sounds anymore.
I have tried reinstalling the program and the sounds folder but to no avail

Do you really mean the "Sibelius Sounds" folder, with that precise name, or did you really mean the "Sibelius 7 Sounds" folder? If you really moved the "Sibelius Sounds" folder, that would have destroyed your sounds installation, including the settings file that tells Sibelius where to find the sample library. If you move the sample library, you must move only the "Sibelius 7 Sounds" folder (from within the "Sibelius Sounds" folder that must not itself be moved), not anything else.

When you launch Sibelius, does it now ask you to identify the location where the Sibelius 7 Sounds sample library is stored? If so, what do you identify as the location in reply?

When you moved the Sibelius 7 Sounds sample library back from the external drive to your main drive, on what exact path did you place it?

I moved the Sibelius Sounds Folder
When I launch Sibelius it has never asked where the location of the sample library is stored

I moved it back to:
Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Avid
and
Mac HD/Users/MRP/Library/Application Support/Avid

Please open the following file in TextEdit:

Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Sibelius Sounds/Libraries/Sibelius 7 Sounds.xml

Then take a screen-shot of the TextEdit window and attach it to your next post in this thread.

Thanks for your help
From your last message I figured out that
I didn't have the Library folder in the right place
When I start the program now I get the Sibelius Player loaded
as the active device and everything seems to be working now

I've got the same problem. After reinstalling sibelius it no longer prompts me for the sound library (which is located on an external HD). I've followed this thread and the path:
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Avid
exists but the 'Sibelius Sounds' folder does not. Any suggestions to help reconnect Sibelius with the library on my external HD?

This is because a newly-installed Sibelius has no knowledge that the Sibelius Sounds sample library has ever been installed.

The "Sibelius Sounds" folder would only exist if the Sibelius Sounds sample library had previously been installed on this computer.

The simplest method is to download and install the full "Sibelius Sounds" sample library. When asked where to install it, you can specify the existing location on the external HD.

Thanks for the reply. I have now downloaded and installed the sound library locally. The sounds work - which is good. But when I try to move the library to my external HD Sibelius does not prompt me for the location and I have no sound again.

Probably this is because you did not follow the instructions for moving the sample library correctly, and moved too much, thereby destroying Sibelius's memory of having the sample library installed.

WARNING: If you are on a Mac, don't move the Libraries folder as this needs to stay in this folder.
