Sibelius crashes very occasionally, either while working (no big deal, I backup constantly) or more commonly at the point that I attempt to close the program. No issue with that. It's rare enough (quite rare indeed!) that I don't think I have any special problem there.
I wonder, though, if anybody can shed any light on an added irritation which always come as a bonus with the crash, and if there may be a solution?
When Sibelius crashes it won't restart. Task Manager shows one or two instances of Sibelius.exe running as a process/es. It's possible to kill one process, but one always remains and stubbornly refuses to be killed even after multiple tries. I assume this is why the program won't open again.
One solution, which I use, is of course a computer restart. It's a time-waster, as that process takes quite a few minutes before all startup programs have fired up and the computer is running smoothly again. I know I can work on streamlining the computer restart process itself, but I don't want to kill all my applets that autostart.
Is there a way to kill the rogue Sibelius process post-crash, so I don't need to restart the computer? Or otherwise can I take any steps so that there is not a hanging process after a crash? Why is there a hanging process that can't be stopped, anyway? Is this behavior typical, or related to my rig?
