Sibelius - the leading music composition and notation software

I'm having a problem that has occurred on several occasions - long sustained notes are being cut off. It happens when other instruments play unison (on other channels - not attached in any way!) and they stop their note, or playes something a little different. The upper part is always cut off after D# in bar no 4. The slur is also different here - and it can't be adjusted up - may that's part of the problem? If I try to use slurs that are covering several bars more notes are being cut off.

For a start, as a Bass Clarinet is involved, have you applied the Bass Clarinet Patch?

Not sure about that, but I use Noteperformer. And the result was the sam with the windows sound module.

Sibelius seems to be 'running out of breath' with all those slurs and ties.

I'm not sure why this is so. It happens with both Sibelius 7 Sounds and NotePerformer, so we can't blame quirks in sample looping. But I can offer a practical solution. Delete the slurs, leaving only ties, and un-hide the 'legato' instruction. Maybe make it 'sempre legato'. Same effect, also arguably tidier and easier to read.

(But where ARE the players supposed to breathe?)

Yes, can do that. It's not a big problem, because this is to be played by real instruments - I just wondered why it happens, and if "someone" could fix it....

The failure to play this score is caused by the unreasonably low setting of 90% for "Note durations of unslurred notes" in Play -> Performance settings. The score plays back if this setting is 95%, for instance.

That must be unintentional? It ought to be possible to set the note duration to a low setting for the rest of the piece, and still have a sustained/slurred intro?

I looked at that setting, thinking you might have set it to over 100% to guarantee legato. Didn't occur to me that too LOW a setting might cause trouble. Nice one, Robin!

I think for Noteperformer Arne recommends 100%.
