I seem to remember seeing this before in an earlier version of Sib. I thought it had been fixed, but it is still with us in 8.5.1.

See attached.

Is there a solution?

Hi

There isn't a solution in the way you want: I recommend that you use a normal staff.

If you are set on using fewer staff lines, then a 3-line staff will probably give you a reasonable outcome, but you can't use the spaces.

(Can't write 'hope that helps' cos it doesn't)

Thanks Jeremy. I just wanted to use the built-in instruments! I'll replace it with a 5-line staff.
