The topic of this thread pretty much says it all. I am using a single-line stave custom instrument, everything is working fine *except* for the dots on dotted rests, which (see picture) are miles higher than they would normally be. I suspect that there is some setting or other to be changed in the custom instrument setup parameters, but I have been over everything and have not been able to solve the problem. Please help!
There was no attachment. On this forum, attachments must be (a) of size less than 1MB; and (b) of types .png, .sib, or .jpg, with the type extension spelled in lower case. Even then, some .jpg files will not attach, and it is best to stick to .png format for graphics.

That's weird. Are you sure that they are rhythm dots and not a dot symbol? If you can click on it and move it with the up and down arrow keys then it is a symbol and not a true rhythm dot.
The large offset of the augmentation dot is caused by the setting of "179" for the "Gap between staff lines" parameter of "Staff Type" for that instrument. Setting "Gap between staff lines" to the normal value of 32 puts the dot back at its conventional position.
But I guess you made that setting to get long bar lines...

After reverting the gap between lines to 32, perhaps you could put an additional stave both above and below this one, and change the instrument to "No instrument (barlines shown)" then pull your barlines up and down to meet those staves.
Um, there's actually a section in Edit Instrument > Edit Staff Type > General called Barlines which allows you to set barline length, expressed as multiples of the staff line gaps.
So if you revert to normal staff line gaps and set this to around 6.00 above and below, you should have what you need.
Hope that helps

One thing about hanging around this website is that you learn new things all the time. Thanks, Jeremy - I never had a need to extend barlines and never noticed that setting in Edit Staff Type.
